With reference to my reserved despatch of
the 22nd April, 1930, and your telegram of the 23rd
You The July, 1930, I have the honour to inform you that the
construction of the Vehicles Ferry piers is now well
advanced.
2.
In order to facilitate the embarkation of
passengers and vehicles at all states of the tide, it is proposed to instal electrically operated ramps on the piers, and the Crown Agents for the Colonies have been authorized to place a contract for the supply of the steelwork and machinery required for these ramps with Messrs. Head, Wrightson & Co., Ltd., of Middlesbrough.
3. Mr. Adam Anderson, Executive Engineer in charge of the Port Development sub-Department of the Public Works Department, who is responsible for the design of the arrangements for embarking and disembarking the vehicles traffic, is due to arrive in England about the middle of May on special duty in connection with
this work. He has been instructed to consult with the
